I am a 37 year old who has been suffering from a nerve disease that slowly causes paralysis of the lower legs, ankles, feet, wrists and hands. It is known as CIDP and is the chronic form of Guillian Barre Syndrome. I left my career about two years ago and hav been on SSDI since October 2007. As a result I stay at home with my three year old daughter but I am still getting worse due to the progressiv nature of my disease. My wife's income plus my SSDI benefits barely make ends meet and we fall short every month. Due the cost of treatment copays, medication copays and tests I am unable to afford the newest or trial treatments. Obne such treatment that could change my life and get me back to providing for my family is not covered by any insurance and costs $25,000, not including travel and hotel. I am in true need of help. This disease has slowly taken away my independence over the passed 15 years and the future looks bleak. My goal is to participate in the new chemo/bone marrow manipulation treatment before its too late. It is thought that I will be in a wheelchair in the next few years and will be unable to use my hands. I want to be a great husband and father, grow old and watch my daughter mature and be there for her. I have lost two younger brothers in the passed few years and that adds to my worry because they always said that they'd be there for me if my health declined...
